FRCEM, PgDip(SEM), MBBS, BSc. (Medical Anthropology)
Dr David Tang graduated from King’s College London in 2007 and spent his formative years as a doctor pursuing his dream of working within Emergency Medicine.
During his training he was fortunate to be able to train in Sports, Exercise and Rehabilitation Medicine, achieving a Post Graduate Diploma from Bath University, which saw him working for the military as well as within elite sport.
Through both the Rehabilitation and Emergency Medicine experiences, Dr Tang sees and treats an array of patients presenting with problems associated with both acute and chronic pain.
He has an ongoing understanding of the various modalities of medications used to treat both, and the side effects they can lead to. He sees and treats patients from all walks of life and has an ongoing interest in managing patients as holistically as possible.
“Throughout my time in Sports and Rehabilitation Medicine, I have worked with patients from both military and civilian backgrounds who were all on raft of pain medications. Although this would help reduce their levels of pain, it would come at the cost of a host of other unwanted side effects, tolerance and addiction problems.
Cannabinoid based medicinal products offer patients a safe and proven option for treatment of acute and chronic pain without the side effects experienced with opioid and gabapentinoid medications.”
Dr Tang has recently been appointed Clinical Lead for medical students at Musgrove Park Hospital, where he works as a Consultant in the Emergency Department.
He allies this with an interest in Sports and Minor Injuries, and takes an interest in the emergency management of back pain.
“Dr Tang assisted with my (they are mine alone!) tech issues, gave me detailed information and answered all my queries. I am extremely impressed by the professional, yet non-judgemental treatment I have received. I would happily recommend this service to anyone.” – Anonymous
