How to obtain a legal medical cannabis prescription
Cannabis is a schedule 2 drug. Medical cannabis has been legal in the UK since November 2018 – however the only legal way to possess cannabis is via a written prescription.
At your consultation the doctor will assess your profile and depending upon your requirements, will write a prescription for medical cannabis.
Peer panel review
The prescription will then go forward to a panel of other specialists for a peer review and approval. The peer review takes place twice a week. Once the prescription has been approved by the panel, we will contact you to let you know and send it to a pharmacy where you can pay for your medication over the phone or online and have it sent to you.
Please note that the type of medication will vary depending upon your condition and the assessment of the specialist.
When will I know about the outcome of the panel peer review?
Once the panel meets to review and approve your prescription, we will let you know the outcome. This normally takes between 3 – 7 working days after your appointment.
What type of medical cannabis will I be prescribed?
The type of medication will vary depending upon your condition and the assessment of the specialist.
